DESCRIPTION:This event is not run by an association in the Tech Alliance\, but may be of interest to some members.\nThis is an opportunity to get together to share and find out what is happening in this space around the Waikato\, NZ\, and globally\, including opportunities and challenges. \nThe April event is part of the global celebration of World IoT Day – April 9. \nIoT Waikato is hosted by Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand(SCCANZ) in partnership with Wintec and our collaborators NZ IoT Alliance and TechWomen NZ. \nEach event also includes an opportunity for 2 min elevator pitches from the audience if you have something to share around how you can help someone or if you need help with an IoT related initiative. \nSpeakers –\nTimothy Young (Smart Access)\nTim will be launching a new initiative as part of their work to leverage technology to include everyone. \nVimal Kumar (NZ IoT Alliance)\nVimal will briefly talk about the Security Working Group being set up by the NZ IoT Alliance. The aim of the working group is to raise awareness about the current state of the art and the need for security in IoT devices. \nJemma König (University of Waikato)\nJemma will introduce the Tini o te Hakituri project and discuss their work developing IoT for hazardous work environments. Hakituri is a research project that is developing wearable IoT for the forestry industry. \nMerrick Spain (Civic Analytica)\nMerrick is on a mission to democratise the power of digital assets by helping industry\, government and third sector organisations to create\, grow and leverage Data Ecosystems as communities of shared purpose through building Culture\, establishing Control\, and facilitating Collaboration to create value.
